Emerson Ea, DNP, RN, BC, ANP-BC, CEN

Dr. Emerson Ea is PNA-NY newly elected Board Member for 2006-2008 term .He is currently assistant professor at Long Island University School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York, conducted a study to investigate acculturation and job satisfaction among Filipino Registered Nurses present during the Philippine Nurses Association of America Eastern Regional Conference held in Baltimore, Maryland in September, 2006. This research study was part of his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree requirement at Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Cleveland, Ohio.

Emerson is a graduate of the 4-year Nursing Program at St. La Salle University, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. He completed his doctorate degree from Case Western University. Last March, 2007, Dr. Ea shared the results of his study that showed that the Filipino nurses surveyed had a moderate level of job satisfaction and an acculturation level that leaned toward the American culture rather than the Filipino culture. He also found that age, length of residency in the United States, and acculturation significantly predicted job satisfaction among the nurses surveyed.
