Leonida Lacdao MA, RN

Leonida Lacdao is PNA-NY newly elected Board Member for 2006-2008 term .She is the Nurse Manager of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Center-Manhattan. She is active in Women's Cardiovascular Program at SVCMC. Her goal is to encourage her staff to focus more on continuing education and critical thinking. She active in different committees of the hospital.
She has worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital as Nurse Manager of the Neurosurgery and Neurology Units with Epilepsy Monitoring Sub-unit. She opened the Stroke Unit, responsible for the education, competency ,and developed policies of the program.

She has worked at Beth Israel Hospital for 10 years, as Charge Nurse and Preceptor for Novice nurses. She has worked at St. Lukes/ Roosevelt for few months as a documentation specialist .Prior to coming to the United States, she worked in Kuwait for 7 years, Arabian Gulf in the General Surgery Unit as Charge Nurse. She has been active with the Filipino community in that region. Her interests is to learn different languages, Arabic is one of them.

Nida, as her friends and colleagues call her, is a graduate of the 4-year Nursing Program at the Quezon Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Lucena City. She further her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the Philippine Women's University in Manila, Philippines. She took post-graduate course in Critical Care Nursing at Philippine General Hospital- University of the Philippines. As an eager person to learn more about nursing management, she took her Master's Degree at Columbia University, New York; Major in Nurse Executive Role.

She is member of the Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing; Nursing Education Alumni Association; Nursing Leadership Academy. She is elected as the corresponding secretary for the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, NYC Chapter.
