2008 Recipient of PNAA Eastern Region’s MVP Award

PNA-NY congratulates Vernie S. Bacolot, MS, RN-BC - recipient of the PNAA Eastern Region MVP Award for 2008. PNAA continued its second annual tradition of giving awards to deserving individuals during the PNAA 11th Eastern Regional Conference Gala night on October 25, 2008 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, South Carolina. The award took Vernie by surprise. She was teary-eyed upon receiving the award and when seated she said, “ What a feeling, it felt like winning the Oscar, thank you.” She is extremely honored to receive the award and grateful for the recognition.
Vernie is well deserved of the MVP Award. She has contributed greatly to PNAA thru her sustained commitment and active participation to PNA-NY Inc. and PNAA National and Eastern Region activities.
Vernie is the recipient of the PNA-NY Presidential Service Achievement Award at the 2008 PNA-NY Induction Ball. As a member of PNA-NY, Inc since 1992, Vernie has demonstrated longevity and service. Her involvement and support with the association’s activities throughout the years have been consistent.
She has been very effective in her role as PNA-NY Recording Secretary for years. She chairs the PNA-NY Education Committee since 2006 and is responsible for renewing its ANCC continuing provider status thru NYSNA, accredited as an approver of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Vernie has attended most of the PNAA national and regional activities. She was an active member of the Eastern Region Education Planning Committee during the 10th Regional Conference in 2007. Last July 2008, she became a member of the PNAA Education Committee Eastern Region for 2008-2010. She has actively participated in the education planning of the PNAA 11th Eastern Regional Conference held last October 24 – 25, 2008 and spearheaded the Leadership Mentoring Institute Program with great success.
Vernie takes great pride in her major role as Nurse Educator at St. Barnabas Hospital and in being an active PNA-NY member. Aside from the major tasks and despite her busy schedule, Vernie can always be counted upon and readily volunteers her time to represent PNA-NY activities consistently throughout the years – annual PIDC Parade, Health Fair Screenings, Educational Programs, and Philippine Consulate Events. |
