Congratulations to the Newly Elected
Executive Officers of PNA-NY 2008-2010

Greetings!
I take great pleasure of welcoming you all to
the Philippine Nurses Association
of New York, Inc. 79th Biennial Induction and
Awards Benefit Gala.
Our theme: Advancing Excellence in Nursing Practice,
Education & Research, Technology Competence,
and Community Activism reflects the PNA-NY, Inc.
commitment to uphold the image of the Filipino-American
nurse focusing on promoting the highest standards
of professional practice, education, research,
technology, and community involvement.
As the incoming President, I look forward to
leading our association in 2008-2010 and to strive
for excellence. This task comes with enormous
responsibility and requires volunteerism from
the members to accomplish our goal. Together,
we can create a partnership in making this theme
of Advancing Excellence come true. Our ability
to advance excellence in nursing will be determined
by the can do attitude. Let us shed the "I
can't" mentality.
The PNA-NY is committed to collaborate with other
mainstream organization, such as New York State
Nurses Association, to support our members and
leaders. Acting as one, we can empower these organizations
to use the legislative process to advocate for
safe patient care and improve our working conditions.
I encourage every Filipino-American nurse to
share ideas with colleagues and learn the new
developments in nursing. We nurses encounter technology
in every aspect of our profession. Let us embrace
these changes and become competent by networking
with the experts and champions in the field.
As the gatekeepers of the healthcare system,
we are called upon to assume varied leadership
roles, implement innovative initiatives, and educate
as needed. I invite you to join the PNA-NY. Our
activism is exhibited by hosting educational programs,
being proactive and responsive to community needs.
Let us keep our hearts, minds and hands together
to lift PNA-NY, Inc. Standing together our association
will become stronger and more productive. Remember,
not to advance is to go backwards. I am confident
that the PNA-NY supported by people like you will
move forward and make a difference!
Thank you all for your presence and overwhelming
support. It gives us strength and assurance that
we can accomplish great things and with faith
we will overcome all challenges.
