President's Message

Fellow nurses, I will begin my message by congratulating the Philippine Nurse Association of New York, Inc. (PNA-NY, Inc) on a successful 25thBiennial Induction and Awards Gala Night. I congratulate all the award recipients for their inspiring achievements that have indeed illuminated the purpose of PNANY, Inc.  For the years 2018-2020, our overarching theme is to “Reimagine and Transcend the Culture of Nursing,” This theme can be accomplished by exploring avenues in fostering the work we do as nurses, moving our culture to greater heights.  As an organization, we have demonstrated through the years our passion, resiliency, trustworthiness, and motivation.   The work we have accomplished have had a great positive impact to our fellow nurses, their families, communities, and the public in general. The thrust of our work emanates from our individual values and professional goals, serving to be inspirational for new nurses coming into the organization as members. We need to invite new members to ensure that we have the strength to carry on with greater reach becoming more palpable as an organization.  To reimagine and transcend the culture of nursing will remind us to evaluate the outcomes of our goals, be in touch with the present realities confronting the profession, letting our voices be heard through position statements that will move the profession forward, and taking ownership of the core of our practice which is a categorical imperative as it is absolute and unconditional that we promote health and wellness.  In conclusion, to reimagine is a reality that requires work in progress, continuing and appreciating the value of research, providing support for one another as we build on each other’s talents and capabilities, and engaging in meaningful projects that fit the framework of transcendence.
